Stickboy Coffee Team Finishes Strong at Boilermaker 15k
Utica, New York — July 16, 2024 — The Stickboy Coffee team conquered the heat and competed with enthusiasm at this year's Boilermaker 15k race. Despite the challenging weather, the team spirit and unwavering support from the Utica crowd made for an unforgettable experience. The Stickboy Coffee runners displayed their dedication and perseverance, successfully completing the race.
Boilermaker Highlights from the Professional Races:
- Men’s Race: Korir edged out two-time champion Jemal Yimer, winning the Men's Open Division in a close finish (42:19). Biya Simbassa of Flagstaff, Arizona, was the top American, placing 8th with a time of 43:53.
- Women's Race: A nail-biting finish saw Grace Loibach Nawowuna of Kenya win the Women’s Open Division by a matter of milliseconds, breaking the tape at 49:18, with fellow Kenyan Emmaculate Anya Achol just steps behind her. The American women’s contingent was led by Annamaria Kostarellis of Arkansas, who finished fifth overall with a time of 50:18.
- Wheelchair Races: In the men’s open wheelchair division, Canadian Josh Cassidy defended his title with a time of 34:05, beating Utica’s own Hermin Garic, who finished second with a time of 36:06. The 2024 Women’s Wheelchair Open Division saw a new champion in Hoda Elshorbagy of Illinois, who finished in 40:25.
- 5K Races: Nineteen-year-old Brendan Carter dominated the Men's 5k (15:38), while Annika Hurley won the Women's 5k in 19:03.
