Podium - SnoFatShu

Podium - SnoFatShu

The Festival of Falkes offered participants an unparalleled opportunity to compete in a weekend of fat biking and snowshoe running.

Day two of the Festival was the SnoFatShu. Named after the mythical Icelandic Monster, the SnoFatShu consists of a snowshoe jaunt of approximately 5K of groomed trials, arriving back to the transition area to send the partner racer out with the fat bike for a 12K “ish” of fat trail heaven. Once back, the snowshoe runner will head out for the final 5K. Participants are able to do the SnoFatShu as a team or solo; it is their choice.

I participated as a team. I was on no sleep and had one doughnut for breakfast. Out of all the podiums I get on during the year the SnoFatShu means a lot to me because I helped get the race off the ground and running.

Being race director is a lot of responsibility and I am always being pulled in a million directions and on top of that I race in SnoFatShu. I am a bit of renegade I suppose to be race director and participate in my own race which causes for no sleep, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

What an AWESOME day the SnoFatShu!!

Thank you to my sponsor Tryon Bike and of course thank you to everyone at Stickboy Coffee.

As always, thank you to all of our awesome volunteers who spent many hours getting this event together. This event would NEVER take place without the commitment of so many others both on and off the trails.

Please note: The SnoFatShu is a fundraiser for the Winona Forest Recreation Association to help maintain the grooming machinery as well as management of the trails.
